In general, one cubic foot of freezer space will hold about 25lbs of meat. The typical side-by-side refrigerator/freezer is about 8 cubic feet where a top mount refrigerator/freezer is about 10 cubic feet, but don’t take our word for it please check your unit prior to purchasing.
For example, 75 lbs. will fit in an area of three (3) cubic feet of space available in your top mount freezer. For a whole beef, which is 350lbs, you’ll need about 14 cubic feet of freezer space. If you have no idea what your freezer capacity is, look for the following label on the door or inside of the refrigerator portion of your unit:
